Here are just a small selection of photos of potential destinations for day trips from Glastonbury. Other reachable destinations may include: Salisbury, Winchester, Dorchester & Thomas Hardy’s Cottage, Cerne Abbas, RNAS Yeovilton, Charlestown, Penzance, St Ives, Tintagel, Ilfracombe, Lynton & Lynmouth, (Lorna) Doone Valley, Exmoor, Porlock Weir & Village, Minehead (West Somerset Steam Railway to Taunton), Nether Stowey (home of Samuel Taylor Coleridge), Watchet, the Quantocks, Cheddar and Wookey Hole, Bristol and especially Bath - my home city. Let’s not forget, the mystical appearances of crop circles that appear here in Somerset and in neighbouring counties. The list should also include the many other coastal points of interest in Southern England and Wales. You may perhaps, have somewhere else in mind?

I have travelled, lived and worked in Somerset and the surrounding counties most of my life. In most cases I can offer both informative and anecdotal commentary for your visit. For example, you may be interested to learn about:

A character called Pope, who lived in Bath around the early 1900’s and how subsequently, Pope, by then, a wanted violent criminal subsequently came to be honoured by the chief of the local constabulary

How, by using intuitive construction techniques and strategies, early Victorian 4/5 storey terraced buildings came to dominate the skyline of the City of Bath despite being built on a flood plain

How to tell an Exmoor pony from the rest

Why North Somerset Coastal Rock Limpets are the shape they are

Where in Somerset and in which week of the year is best to watch Peregrine falcon adults teach their young to stoop pigeon

The service you’ll receive here amounts to good old fashioned value for money. I’ll inform you and inspire interest as best I can - I don’t know everything - but I’ll look after you!

My vehicle is a 4 seater Volvo SUV. Volvos are renowned for their build quality, ride comfort and this XC60 comes with air conditioning and a boot large enough for a trip to the airport or train station without half the suitcases sitting across your laps*. Volvos are also famous for their safety features like the Volvo City Safety System and this one is happiest on long trips. The taxi has a Hackney Licence and can be hailed, booked and more importantly, perform a wait and return/move-on service - so it can stay with you wherever you go. The service I offer comes with liability insurance - so you are insured, not just the taxi. I have been DBS checked to “enhanced” grade - that’s a 3rd tier police and criminal records check in layman’s terms.

  • *This will depend on the size of the suitcases. However, the boot of the XC60 is more capacious than most estate saloon cars.

About Me

A proper Bathonian raised and schooled in the Historic city of Bath. Spent some time in north Surrey where I became an academic product of both Kings College, London and Southbank Uni. Employment subsequently was primarily with the construction, home maintenance and heating/ventilation industries. I played rugby (No 12) for Sutton and Epsom Rugby Club and developed an interest in horticulture. I Have now dedicated the rest of my working life helping people with getting around swiftly and comfortably.
